At Middle Tennessee CFT, we believe the body functions best when its structure and its soft tissues work in harmony. That’s why our approach blends Craniosacral Fascial Therapy with gentle chiropractic care—two therapies that naturally complement each other to support the nervous system and overall health.

Chiropractic care helps restore healthy alignment and movement in the spine, creating space for the nervous system to communicate clearly. Craniosacral Fascial Therapy works more subtly, releasing tension in the fascia and craniosacral system to improve fluid flow, ease restrictions, and calm the body from within. When combined, these therapies address both the underlying structure and the soft‑tissue patterns that influence it.

This integrative approach encourages the body to self‑regulate, unwind, and heal. Many people notice improvements in sleep, digestion, focus, emotional regulation, and overall resilience. Whether you’re seeking relief, support for your child, or a more balanced way of moving through life, our goal is to help your whole body function at its best—gently, naturally, and with care.

Your Questions, Answered

  • Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) is a gentle, hands‑on approach that helps the brain, spinal cord, and fascial web move freely—an essential foundation for optimal health. The craniosacral fascial system relies on the subtle rhythmic motion of the brain and spinal cord, which pumps cerebrospinal fluid throughout the fascial network that connects every structural cell in the body. For this system to function well, the brain must be able to gently expand and contract, and the fascial web must remain open so fluid can flow without restriction.

When the fascia becomes tight or strained, it can limit this fluid movement and interfere with the body’s natural ability to nourish cells and clear waste. CFT, based on the Gillespie Approach, is designed to identify and release these strain patterns and stored traumas. By using light, intuitive touch, the therapist supports the body in unwinding tension and returning to a more balanced, functional state.

A core principle of the Gillespie Approach is trusting the body’s innate wisdom. Rather than forcing change, the therapist listens, allows, and follows the body’s cues—creating space for true self‑correction. This philosophy is especially meaningful for newborns and children, as early strain patterns can influence future health and development. By gently assisting the body in releasing these restrictions, CFT helps support healthier growth, regulation, and overall well‑being.

  • A tonal chiropractic adjustment is a very gentle, precise method of care that focuses on improving the tone and tension of the nervous system rather than relying on forceful manual manipulation. Instead of quick thrusts or “popping” sounds, tonal techniques use light touch and subtle cues to help the body release stored tension and return to a more balanced state. This approach is rooted in the idea that the nervous system is constantly communicating with every part of the body, and when that communication is clear, the body can function more harmoniously.

    Why It’s Beneficial

    • Supports the nervous system: Tonal adjustments aim to reduce interference in the body’s communication pathways, helping the nervous system operate more efficiently.

    • Gentle and non‑invasive: Because tonal chiropractic uses light pressure and refined techniques, it’s comfortable for people of all ages—including those who prefer a softer approach.

    • Helps release old tension patterns: By addressing the “tone” of the body rather than just alignment, tonal care can help unwind long‑held stress patterns and support better overall balance.

    • Promotes whole‑body harmony: Techniques like Tonal Integrative Correction (T.I.C.) work to restore normal nerve tension and improve the body’s ability to self‑regulate and heal.

    Why It’s Effective

Tonal chiropractic works with the body’s innate intelligence—the natural ability to adapt, heal, and maintain balance. By gently guiding the nervous system toward clearer communication and healthier tone, this approach can support improved function, reduced stress, and a greater sense of ease throughout the body.

  • Occasionally, Individual cases require additional support such as myofunctional therapy to improve oral function or physical and functional movement correction. To support and extend the benefits of the Craniosacral Fascial Therapy and chiropractic care provided, we also incorporate myofunctional exercises and functional movement work. Myofunctional therapy helps retrain the muscles of the face, mouth, and tongue to support healthier breathing, posture, and oral function—creating stability for the changes made during hands‑on care. Functional movement exercises then help the body integrate these improvements by reinforcing balanced patterns of coordination, strength, and mobility. Together, these supportive therapies help the body maintain the openness, alignment, and ease restored through CFT and chiropractic care, promoting longer‑lasting whole‑body wellness.
